So how is everyone doing on their rides? So far in 2012 I have ridden 462 miles, most of which are mountain bike miles. Getting ready for the race in June I've been trying to bike at least 3 times a week. Today I went on a short 10 mile rode ride before I had to go to work. It was sunny but a bit chilly out. I'm looking forward to the temps getting back up to a comfortable level!

I'm a fair-weather cyclist, so I haven't been out this last month. Really hoping the weather improves! We're buying a place in Broughty Ferry (a suburb of Dundee) and it's a block from the cycle route I use...so a bit of motivation to cycle more after we move.
Thinking about getting spindle locks (or whatever they're called) that prevent the easy removal of (especially) the front tire and using my bike more often around town. Currently don't use it in town out of fear of it getting stolen, but with the move, will want to use it to save walking 50 minutes to get to the gym every day.

Yeah, I would be nervous all day when away from my bike locked up somewhere. Even when I have my bike in the back of my SUV locked up I can't stop worrying if I go shopping or out to eat and my car is out of view for an extended time. I'd for sure get a cheap beater bike if I were to commute and had to leave it locked up for hours.

Hello there Well, here in Israel the weather allows you to cycle through the all year… In winter, we cycle in the desert, especially in the area of the Dead Sea. This area offers lots of single routs and technical ride – I love it! I will upload some photos to the galleries from some desert trips around the Dead Sea to let you taste a bit of the unique desert experience! As it gets warm, me and my friends from groopy go to ride in the north, where there are a lot of rivers flowing now, after the rainy winter we've finely got…A month ago, we've crossed a lot of rivers during the trip and it was a great fun! I'm going to upload some photos of that rivers crossing trip soon too... During the week I don't find the time to cycle, and furthermore, bike is for me a way to get united with nature, so I go on long trips on each weekend. Last Saturday, I went on a ride in the mountains surrounds Jerusalem with my friends from groopy.. It was awesome! A great climb and fantastic forests views! If you come visit Israel, I'll love to take you to tour Israel by bike… It's a unique experience! edited by dafi on 4/30/2012

I would love to come biking with all of you at Groopy. I'm not sure I'd ever make it to Israel but if I do I'll be sure to let you know. My wife and I have a long list of places we'd love to visit and Israel is one of them on that list, unfortunately it costs a lot of money to travel around like that.

I agree with you Aaron that our dreams are often farther than our reach, especially when it comes to traveling around the glove ;-) … I believe that groopy is a place to make friends from all kind of places in the world and as Garry Fisher said: "Anybody who rides a bike is a friend of mine". My dream is that groopy will become a world community for cyclist, a way to get together for a beer and a ride, whether it is with buddies from the same city or someone from across the ocean. Groopy can be a place to share a good story and some cycling photos with your cyclist buddies wherever they are from.. We are all equal wearing these funny tights sharing the same straggle to conquer a top of a mountain or the great feeling of flying sooo fast in the way back down. edited by dafi on 4/30/2012

I got an 8 mile MTB ride in today. It rained in the morning so it was a bit wet and slippery but I just had to squeeze a ride in before the next round of storms roll through.

I think I'm going to try to get a ride in before the storm hits. It was supposed to come this morning but it has held off so far.

Thanks Dafi! The ride I posted for this weekend is just a training ride though, the actual competition is on June 2nd. A friend that I'm riding in the competition with and I want to do two laps out there to get ready.
I missed the rain today and it actually got very sunny. I got sunburn on my face, lol. I'm not sure what the rain is doing but it's getting cloudy again now and windy. I think the storms will come tonight.
I'm glad you got a great ride in today too! It's nice to get out there for some fun.
One last thing, here in America it's National Bike Month. Even more reason to get out and ride!

Did my training ride today out at Mohican. It went really well. 2 laps, 45 miles total. 5 hours 36 minutes of ride time, 7 hours total because I broke my chain on lap one and my riding buddy was going slow since he wasn't feeling well.

I can't be the only one who bikes on this biking forum. lol I went on a nice long ride today. I rode from my house to a State Park not to far away today. It was kind of cool outside and overcast but on the way home the sun came out. I rode 54.7 miles in 3 hours and 23 minutes. Time to relax!

I've been busy this week and haven't posted much. I have ridden 5 out of the 7 days this week. I'm going to try and ride again Tuesday and then this weekend is Dirt Fest! I plan to log a lot of miles while there.

Hey Aaron,
Very Impresive! Riding 5 times in 7 days! Lucky you I ride only once a week, on weekends.. you can look at The Galleries I put and get an idea about the trip ride.. Are you cycling alone by your own or with companion? I looked at the link of the dirt festival.. looks something different.. I expect to see some photos of the event! It looks like a lot of fun Take care.. Dafi edited by dafi on 5/14/2012

Thanks Dafi, I hope to get some good pics this weekend at Dirt Fest. It's going to be a great time and everyone is really excited! Too bad you can't come to Dirt Fest with us!
Generally if I ride on the weekend I'll go with some friends. Rides during the week I typically go alone. I work rotating shifts and about 50% weekends so it's hard to get people to ride with during the week, especially since I ride earlier in the day when I have the day off and everyone is working.
Today I went on a ride alone. I rode Mohican again since that is where the race will be in about 2.5 weeks from now. I rode a new personal best "ride time" of 2 hours and 38 minutes on the 24 mile loop. I got a flat tire 2.5 miles into the ride which made my total time end up being 2 hours and 53 minutes. I'm very happy with my times this year, I seem to be riding the loop about an hour faster than this time last year!

Well, besides my riding last weekend at Dirt Fest I finally got out on the trails again and rode one close to home. I did two laps totaling 18.2 miles, my first lap was solo before the others showed up and I rode lap two with the group. I was also able to ride with one of the fastest bikers in Ohio which was fun. It amazes me how effortlessly the really good riders make it look! To give you an idea how fast he is, I rode my solo lap in 50 minutes and 58 seconds. I'm not slow by any means but Jason rode it in 37 minutes and 59 seconds! I need to ride with faster people more often to pick up tips and tricks I haven't learned yet.

Good ride today at Mohican, and the last big ride I'll do before the Mohican 100 next week. I'll get in an easy spin on the road later this week to keep my legs moving but no more mountain biking for one week! It's going to drive me crazy!
